UNESCO International Jazz Day

“It Don´t Mean A Thing (If It Ain´t Got That Swing)"

The Ebony Big Band will share this rich American culture called Jazz, which is the only indigiouness art form coming out of the U.S., through the performance of compositions from great African American composers and big bands from the time of the Harlem Renaissance to the 1950’s.

The bands and composers that are being represented in this concert are Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Count Basie, Anne Mae Winburn and the International Sweethearts of Rhythm, Benny Moten, Fats Waller, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday and Lena Horn.

The Ebony Big Band will share these sounds and stories of this era, not only in musical performance, but also through narration, storytelling and multi-media presentation of pictures and videos.
