“The Greatest Unknowns Ever Known”

UNESCO’s International Jazz Day brings together communities, schools, artists, historians, academics, and music fans all over the world to celebrate and learn about jazz and its roots, future and impact. By playing, listening to, and learning about jazz and its history as a global art form, participants reaffirm the value of international cooperation and cross-cultural communication.

The Ebony Big Band will represent UNESCO’s Internatiomnal Jazz Day in Germany this year by performing and informing the public of some of the great jazz composers in the history of jazz that have not been so well recognized on the international market, as well as some of the well known greats we’ve all heard of before.

The composers we will feature this year are Horace Tapscott, Lester Robertson, Ella Fitzgerald, Dexter Gordon, Charles Mingus, Thelonius Monk, Cab Calloway, Benny Moten, Jimmy Lunceford and Tina Brooks.
