Short Biography

Jeannette Gaussi was born in 1973 in Kabul, Afghanistan. As a child, she left her parents behind to travel to Berlin, went later to Delhi and then returned to Berlin. She studied at the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin-Potsdam. The topics 'belonging and displacement' and the 'shifting sense of home' are central to her as a filmmaker, sculptor, installation and video artist and curator. As a creative - in the truest sense of the word - she has applied her skills to work as assistant art director at the Volksbühne Berlin, setting up galleries such as NewYorkRioTokyo e.V. and the Gallery E4* in Berlin. She was one of four artists invited to the 'Residency Vasl Artists' Collective and Citizens Archive of Pakistan' to create and exhibit her art. 'Home Sweet Home' is a collaborative multi-city art project which she co-exhibited to critical acclaim in Dubai 2010.
