Black History Month 2012

February's going black

The WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN is focusing in on Brazil for Black History Month 2012.

There were capoeira and candomblé performances; concert nights with Samba, Baião, Maracatu, Côco and Bossa Nova; an Off-Berlinale by and with Afro-Brazilian filmmakers and Festas.

One of the highlights was the one-of-a-kind exhibition of ten different Candomblé altars set up by Babalorixá Murah Soares.

We would like to thank:

  • ... FORUM BRASIL for the collaboration!
  • ... the photographers for enriching our program brochure and website with their works: Daniela Incoronato, Fernando Miceli, Stephan Röhl, Pasche, filmkantine.
  • ... our assistants behind-the-scenes: Rusen Eser-Bernard & Margret Aumann, Nasi Nikpay, Susanne Renken, Lena Buck, Peter Schöber and Paul Räther!

We would also like to thank the Deutsches Technikmuseum for supplying us with a display case, as well as Blumen Trangly (Marienburgerstraße 8 in 10405 Berlin) for assisting us with the decoration of the altars!
