Karneval der kulturen

Every year for the last 17 years the WdK celebrates one of Berlin's landmark events, the Karneval der Kulturen. Regularly exceeding one million visitors, the event is a four-day extravaganza of cultural riches, a platform for the proud expression of a myriad of cultural identities. The aim is not only to showcase different cultures but also to promote intercultural exchange. With the Werkstatt der Kulturen as the organizing body, the Carnival seeks to provide a haven for cultural multiplicity and intercultural exchange. The Carnival of Cultures is open to everybody - associations, institutions, theatres, art schools, youth and community clubs, ethnic associations, individual artists, musicians, bands and DJs. The carnival parade was comprised of more than 90 groups this year.
