Set 2 : The Flintstone Big Band

The Flintstones are rumored to have arisen sometime in the late Cretaceous period when notes were still carved into stone and instruments were extremely heavy...

First documentation of the group has existed however only since the mid-80s, when 20 musicians in Kreuzberg came together to form the Flintstones Big Band , which since 1996 has been under the direction of Daniel Busch. After the Flintstones had worked through the different styles of big band repertoires from swing and Latin rhythms to rock and pop - they have in recent years begun to choose themes for their concerts.

The ensemble is held in high esteem by the Berlin Jazz scene, which has led to collaborations with the "Geschwister Pfister", Gayle Tufts, Pascal von Wroblewski, Jazz Professors David Friedman, Michael Schiefel, Maria Baptist, Peter Weniger, Wolfgang Köhler and Jazz legend Ack van Rooyen.

On numerous concert tours through Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Greece and Japan, the versatile repertoire of Flintstones Big Band has been enthusiastically received.

Invite Friends

The music school Paul Hindemith Neukölln is THE hotbed of talent in the Berlin jazz scene. The careers of the jazz stars of tomorrow begin in their preparatory courses run by expert-class jazz professionals. In collaboration with the WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN, the neighborhood music school can bee seen on stage at the WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN's Club for the monthly series "Jazz aus Neukölln". Professional musicians who teach at the music school each present a study preparation band and its own professional project. Also, there will be a big "StuVo night" with five students bands and the teachers quartet "4 Kometen" as well as an evening dedicated entirely to the Big Band of the music school.

Vibraphonist Franz Bauer is the curator of the series, who is also an instructor at Musikschule Paul Hindemith.

The concert series Jazz in Neukölln is a cooperation between Musikschule Paul Hindemith Neukölln and WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN.
