Kleines Kuba Fest

Saturday 08.07.2017 2:00 PM | Saal

Admission: € 15 / €10 concert / € 5 readings and films / €20 combi-ticket

Organizer: Werkstatt der Kulturen/ Ricardo Bacallao

Co-Operation

Kleines Kuba Fest has its origins in a need for German organisations that are dedicated to the exchange and spread of ideas and information on, and the study of, Latin American culture and literature, in this case, relating to Cuba: opportunities to keep up to date with the most important cultural processes, artistic directions and movements in Cuba and the Cuban diaspora are clearly lacking.

The first edition of the Kleines Kuba Fest, that we are celebrating on Saturday 8th July, addresses two important cultural areas: the literary works of women on the island of Cuba and in the diaspora, and queer and gay themes in literature and in audiovisual media.

The focus is particularly on the personal experiences of the protagonists: the life and work of two extraordinary Cuban musicians who reside in Berlin are presented in a documentary film by Ricardo Bacallao.

At the end of the festival the audience can also experience the music, that Cuban artists in Germany produce, live.

The festival was made possible through the cooperation of the Werkstatt der Kulturen event location, OtroLunes – magazine for Hispanic-American culture, and the AV-Kreativhaus e.V. cultural institution.

The Cuban author Amir Valle, filmmaker Ricardo Bacallao and the musician Diógenes Nodarse are responsible for the coordination of the literary, audiovisual and music programme.
