presented by World Wide Music

The current focus of the World Wide Music programme highlights the unique variations of Yiddish music.

The inventors of Yiddpop are back in Berlin for you to enjoy!
Singer-songwriter Fabian Schnedler and bass player Steffen Illner connect two things which previously were carefully kept separated – German and Yiddish – in an innovative and poetic way.

Schnedler quotes and mixes poetry from the Yiddish avantgarde with his own poetry inspired by daily life and delivers it with charming joy, in both Yiddish and German. Quiet yet intense, Fayvish enrich Yiddish music by adding a new, much anticipated dimension.

"This is the most individual, natural, flowing, and deeply connected take on Yiddish language and song I've heard in a long, long time." (Alan Bern)

Fabian Schnedler - vocals, guitar
Steffen Illner - bass, glockenspiel
