As part of La Saison Arabe, we are presenting the Fadfadah oral history workshop in the hall of the WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN on the 21st of October, 2017.

Fadfadah is an Arabic word which means to get something off your chest.

Female refugees will present the results of an intensive workshop.

Fadfadah is a project from the Zentrum für arabisches Theater und Interkulturalität Zati e.V., directed by Dr. Marwa Mahdy Abidou.

In April the 2nd edition of the FADFADAH oral history workshop for female refugees from the Arab-speaking world began.

The project director is the Egyptian theatre scholar DR MARWA ABIDOU, who used the story-telling theatre format to give voice to the refugee stories of Syrian women, during the first edition of Fadfadah last year.

“The Fadfadah workshop is a kind of discussion circle where Arab-speaking women can express themselves in a safer space, also with the assistance of artistic and theatrical methods", says project leader Abidou, “by doing this they are empowered to speak about their lives in Germany and defend themselves against racist remarks.”
